Words do matter. And the power of a single word can’t be overlooked.
A simple journaling technique is to choose a single word for each day. To do this, keep a pad and pen by your bedside, and before you turn in at night, write down the word you want to focus on the next day. This way, you will have introduced the word into your subconscious mind while you sleep.
I’ve used this technique lately and it never fails to bring me back to my center. I created a list of my favorite words for this exercise, which I add to when a new one strikes my fancy. Here are some I like:
Exercise: Make a list of your own ‘power’ words. At night, before sleep, jot down the word you would like to focus on the next day. You could write it on a post it note, enter it in your phone, or simply choose to remember your word, as I do. Repeat the following night, letting your intuition choose the next day’s word.
